A meticulous investigation conducted by Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses led to the arrest of rape suspects.
Police say, on the 15th of October 2019, a child was walking on the street at Skhimini village where she was called by a well-known suspect who allegedly raped her.
“He ultimately offered the victim R7.00 in order to bribe her not to divulge the incident to anyone. The suspect also ordered the victim to visit him again the following day after school.
“On the 16th October 2019 the child again visited the place where she was also raped by a friend of the first suspect who offered her R6-00.
“On the 17th October 2019 she went to the place again where she was raped by another suspect who did not give her anything. After the incident, she went home and did not share the incident with anyone.
“On the 18th October 2019 the victim was again sexually molested by a third suspect without giving her anything in return and went to the victim’s mother to ask for forgiveness.
“The mother of the victim was shocked to hear that her child was raped and she started questioning her daughter until she confessed. She took her to a nearby clinic for medical treatment and later opened a case”, added Constable Ridgewell Rikhotso.
The station commander, Colonel Mosena applauded the outstanding detective skills, applied by members of the SAPS under Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses in cracking a very complicated case.
