The MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale has reacted with shock to the death of a 51-year old man and his two daughters aged 13 and 9, who died in a suspected gender based violence incident which happened at Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen.
Police say they are investigating two counts of murder and inquest after the man allegedly set alight the house while he was inside with his two daughters.
The deceased have been identified as Gladwin Mboweni, Minkateko and Tsakani Mboweni.
Mboweni was the Mopani District Manager of Statistics South Africa.
“Our social workers have started providing psychosocial support to the mother of the children and to other affected parties. May the souls of the two children and their father rest in peace,” said MEC Rakgoale.
