Makhadzi Muiba (24) expressed disappointment after not being nominated for this year’s instalment of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs). The Limpopo-born hit maker took to social media to congratulate those who made the cut, but also to express sadness at being snubbed. She said she had submitted her work but sadly she just didn’t make the cut. The list of nominees was released virtually for the first in the history of the Awards, and sadly, Makhadzi and her partner, Master KG surprisingly didn’t make the final list. Makhadzi expressed her sadness after not receiving recognition for her hard work.
She took to Twitter and said,”Congratulations to all @TheSAMAs nominees… so sad for not being recognised after what Matorokisi did to AFRICANS last year”. She further explained that she made all the submission in time.
The fact that her partner Master KG was also not nominated for the hit Jerusalema featuring Nomcebo has sent shockwaves, with many people questioning the fairness of the selection process. Hordes of music lovers felt both of them deserve to be nominated.
Twitter users comforted her and assured her that they are as much disappointed as she is and they believe she deserved SAMAs recognition.
This is what some of her fans had to say: “Don’t worry thina, we recognise you Vho-Makhadzi, keep making music. Your time is coming,” said Robzinterris.
Rose Simelane said, “Awards mean nothing! You’re a superstar”. Meanwhile, Rendani18807663 didn’t mince his words and labelled the awards as a sham. “Those SAMAs are a scam. You are talented Makhadzi and South Africans love and appreciate you. Don’t worry about those awards. You are a hard-working woman and your career will still flourish without those awards”.
