Local Waste Collectors Terrorized By Zimbambwens In Their Homeland

A gang of Zimbambwen is accused of terrorizing South Africans at the old dumping site, better known as Magangeni in Section A, Greater Giyani Municipality.

It is alleged that local residents are prohibited from collecting waste from the landfill site by these illegal foreigners.

Our source said that the only time they are allowed to work is when these illegal foreigners have finished picking up the waste.

“Many of us are single parents and work in a dangerous state. These Zimbambwens terrorize us every day. We are unemployed and we are trying to make a living here by gathering waste.

“The police are not helpful. We have reported cases, several times to the police, but they continue to turn their backs on us,’ she said.

According to the information at our disposal, a South African citizen was killed by these illegal foreigners a few years ago.

Giyani police spokesman Officer Ridgewell Rikhotso stated that no cases had been reported. “Both parties at the dumping site are working there illegally.

“If they want the police to be involved, it is up to the relevant management to report this matter to the police”.

Giyani Municipality spokesperson Steven Mavunda told Giyani View that he would reserve his comment for time being. “I will need to consult with an affected unit and I will get back to you later.”
