GGM Mayor signs disgruntled community members’ memo!
By Angie Nkuna
Greater Giyani Municipality (GGM) Mayor, Cllr Shivambu Basani has today received the memorandum of demands from the disgruntled community members of Khani, Basani, Nwamankena and Makgakgapatse Villages in the outskirts of Giyani.
The disgruntled community members embarked on the early morning violent protest closing down R81 with tree branches and stones.
It’s alleged that the disgruntled community members are up in arms following the failure of the Greater Giyani Municipality (GGM) to appoint a contractor to construct a tar road since 2014/15 IDP Budget.
Our source alleged that the residents are pissed off with false misrepresentation by GGM newsletters that the gravel road D3157 linking Nwamankena Khani to Hlaneki Villages has been tared in municipal roads.
Cllr Shivambu has been accompanied by Speaker, Pat Mathebula amongst other dignitaries.
Shivambu has acknowledged that she will submit to the relevant department. In her final remarks she said that the demands falls under the jurisdiction of the District Municipality, Mopani.
