Henny C’s music hitting up the airwaves

Born and bred in Mphambo village outside Malamulele, award winning artist Henny Chauke popularly known by his growing fan base as Henny C/Tsonga Prince, is making an indelible mark on South Africa’s music scene. 

It all started with him singing church hymns in mother tongue (Xitsonga) in Sunday school. His love for music grew over time and he developed a unique way of singing which set him apart from the rest. His unique accent and his distinguished voice have duped many into thinking that he originates from Mozambique. 

Throughout, his family remained a pillar of strength and supported his passion, which enabled him to take a bold step to pursue music professionally. 

His popularity skyrocketed in 2017 when the Tsonga Prince was nominated in two categories at South African Upcoming Music Awards (SAUMA), namely, Best Afro pop and Best male artist, and he went on to win the coveted prize the best male artist award. 

He also got recognition several times from the provincial awards in Limpopo Music Awards. At the Annual Xitsonga Music Awards, he scooped five awards, namely, Best Xitsonga R&B, Best Male, Best R&B, Best Disco, and Doctor Thomas Chauke album of the year. 

Henny C got an opportunity to perform at prestigious events such as Collins Chabane Cultural Heritage Festival, Maphungubwe Culinary Music Festival, Limpopo Youth Day celebration, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, XMA15 and Benny Mayengani Fill UP Peter Mokaba Stadium gig. 

Just last year, he featured the Limpopo hit maker King Monada in a love song titled: “Driver ya Marato”, which became popular and gained massive radio airplay nationwide. 

This was his first song to be played on National Radio stations like Umhlobo Wenene FM and Ukhozi every week. “Driver ya Marato” is a regular feature on Radio Monitor’s Top 100 songs.
