On Sunday, July 17, 2022, hundreds of community members at Bambeni village, Ka-Dzumeri outside Giyani, gathered at Phadi Primary School to determine the future of their headman, Vincent Mashaba.

The Dzumeri Royal Council, led by Hosi Wilson Divila Mabunda, met with dissatisfied members of the community.

Community members said headman Mashaba is no longer welcome in the village. Mashaba, who is a resident of the village of Maphata, 5 kilometers from the village of Bambeni, is accused of having no interest in the village of Bambeni.

Residents said Mashaba was installed as a headman in 2007 and till to date he has not moved into the village of Bambeni after allegedly making a promise that within a year he would have moved to the village.

However, Hosi Dzumeri firmly condemned his subjects flagged by members of his family, the Mabundas.

According to Hosi Dzumeri, the Mabundas should have used the advantage of their royal status and handled the situation better.

Hosi Dzumeri criticized the petition and said that it is premature.

It remains unclear whether the residents are against being led by the Mashabas or they are against headman Mashaba.

Hosi Dzumeri threatened that if the residents are planning to appoint their own headman will be cast out of Dzumeri Tribal Authority.

According to the information at our disposal, Hosi Pheni Ngobe made a proposal to Hosi Dzumeri to surrender the villages of Bambeni and Maphata in an exchange of Chieftaincy certificate.

According to our source Hosi Ngobe made this proposal before he was elected as the new Chairperson of the Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders.

Meanwhile, headman Mashaba’s future is at stake, and he is still undesirable in the village of Bambeni.

Giyani View’s source claimed that headman Mashaba is not the legitimate heir to the headman’s post, and that he deserves what happens to him.

Our team is keeping an eye on the developments…
