Stakeholders comprising of Eskom, Greater Giyani Municipality (GGM), SAPS, and organizers of the #GIYANISHUTDOWN met on Monday following a Friday shutdown in the Giyani CBD.
Stakeholders agreed to end the shutdown. Eskom resolved to attend to the community grievances raised by the delegation on Monday.
Amongst others, Eskom committed to embark on a mass household audit exercise to clean the system of all illegal connections, which according to Eskom necessitate load-reduction.
In addition, Eskom resolved to re-open the Giyani Eskom offices.
GGM mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha urged all the stakeholders to work together. “Let’s work together as a team to ensure that resolutions are successfully implemented.”
