The police in Giyani are appealing to community members to assist in identifying three deceased bodies.
The bodies were found in different areas within Giyani policing precinct between December 2018 and October 2019.
Police spokesperson, Constable Ridgewell Rikhotso said the first body was found on Sunday of 29 December 2018 in the bushes along R81 Road between Xikukwani village and Giyani.
“The body was discovered by a passerby who immediately contacted the police and upon arrival at the scene they found a lifeless body of a middle aged African male wearing only a brown trouser. The body was taken to government mortuary and no identification till to date. A case of Inquest was registered.
“The Second deceased body was found on Sunday of 4 August 2019. The victim was knocked down by speeding vehicle at Giyani Central Business District (CBD) between Caltex and Mabunda bottle store.
“The deceased was wearing a gray trouser, black jersey and was carrying a black school bag with clothes. The lifeless body is unknown at this stage however is an African male who is believed to be at his early 40s.
“The third incident is a shocking recovery of the remains (bones) of human believed to be an African male. The deceased was wearing brown T-shirt and blue jean trouser. The remains were recovered on Sunday of 6 October 2019 in the mountain at Maswanganyi Village outside Giyani.
“The police are appealing to anyone who may know the families of the deceased bodies or anyone with information which can lead to identification to come to Giyani SAPS or contact Doctor Colonel Mabasa 0824690739, Detective warrant officer Mlambo at 0784190393, Detective warrant officer Makhubela at 0835279687 or Sergent Mabasa at 0828340289”, concluded Rikhotso.
