Power, utility, Eskom kick started with an operation to remove illegal connections in Giyani’s sections.
The utility said that the continuation of load-reduction in Giyani’s sections is inflicted by illegal connections.
Illegal connections have presented the biggest challenge to reliable electricity supply in the areas and resulted in a shutdown last Friday at the CBD.
According to Eskom a house to house audit exercise has proven on a first day that illegal connection is widespread in Giyani’s sections.
The operation is supported by the SAPS and GGM.
