In the early hours of Wednesday, the police in the Tzaneen area, Nkowankowa received information from an Air Tracker of a reported stolen vehicle.
The SAPS in the area assisted by a local security company managed to follow the lead of the information supplied by the air tracker straight to the scene where the stolen car was discovered parked.
Upon arrival, the team discovered that the vehicle was parked inside a fenced yard. While the police were busy conducting a thorough routine crime scene investigations, the suspect was seen trying to flee from the crime scene through a window after which he was apprehended.
The 39-year-old man faces charges of possession of stolen property and will appear before the Ritavi Magistrate’s court soon. Meanwhile, the stolen Mercedes Benz (white) sprinter vehicle has since been confiscated and efforts to identify the owner are underway pending the investigations.
