A 62-year-old woman and her two sons aged 35 and 43 respectively, were on Tuesday, 07 January 2020 made another court appearance before the Tiyani Magistrates’ Court following their arrests on 31st December 2019 for the murder of her husband (66).
The incident took place in Tiyani village, Hlanganani.
It is alleged that the deceased, Samson Hlungwani was accused of witchcraft by the trio and was on the 31st December strangled inside one of the rooms.
It is alleged that one of the sons blamed his numerous failed marriages on his father, whom he claimed to have bewitched him.
The police reacted to a report about the incident, and on arrival at the scene, found the deceased bruised and lying motionless in one of the rooms.
The three suspects, who were staying with the deceased in the same house made their first court appearance before the Tiyani Magistrates’ Court last Thursday and are facing a charge of murder.
The three, identified as Sophie Maringa Kubayi, Sergie Hlungwani and Musa Loverboy Hlungwani were remanded in custody and their case was postponed to 06 February 2020 for further bail application.
