Giyani- The South African Police Service in Giyani has arrested a 24-year-old local church pastor for raping a 16-year-old-girl.
The victim who is from a village outside Giyani was allegedly raped by her two church pastors between October 2018 and February 2019.
Police say the incidents were reported to them and started with their initial investigations until the suspect was arrested. The second suspect was identified, but he has since disappeared after realizing that he is being sought by the Police.
The preliminary Police investigations revealed that the two suspects allegedly raped the victim in separate incidents on different days and at several places.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned with the strongest terms, the ongoing sexual offences act perpetrated against women and children which are still prevalent in some parts of the Province.
Members of the community, especially parents, are still advised and encouraged to strengthen child safety at all times to prevent or avoid this type of incidents to occur, concluded General Ledwaba.
The arrested suspect will appear before the Giyani Magistrate court tomorrow, Friday.
“Manhunt for the second suspect who is around thirties, is still underway.
